Are you using an older version of Microsoft Office, and you need to open up a newer version of a Microsoft Office document, and you don’t want to purchase the latest version of Microsoft Office yet? Microsoft has provided for free, the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack, for use with older versions of Microsoft Office, all the way back to Microsoft Office version 2000. After downloading and installing the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack, you will then be able open, edit, and save files, using the newer file formats, that are only available in newer versions of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

After you download and install the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack, make sure that you download and install all updates for the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack, from Windows Updates.
